Top Five Summer Activities for the Hampton-Area Family

As I drove through Hampton on the first warm day of spring, I noticed the Town Square overflowing with families. I was astonished to see that there are so many people, who, like me, have chosen this beautiful place to call home and raise a family. It was then that I wanted to celebrate This Place and profile the families who’ve made the Hampton area home.

Summer is a time to lounge, but most of us with kids are looking for activities that don’t break the bank, or the gas tank. There are many beautiful spots to explore in the Hampton area.

  1. Dutch Point Trail: Park at Dutch Point and walk the trail to the end and you’ll have nature to explore and three playgrounds to choose from. My almost three-year-old loves the Leatherbarrow playground the best. After our walk, we picnic at Dutch Point Park, a playground perfect for littles with easy to climb equipment.
  2. Bates Landing: Whether you want to pick your own berries with a stunning view, or enjoy an ice cream watching the ferry, the cool breeze off the Belleisle Bay makes the quick jaunt worth the drive.
  3. Crystal Beach: With only a $5 charge for parking, and a 50 minute drive, this beach is worth the trip. The drive through Kingston is beautiful, and once you arrive, the small beach on the St. John River is perfect for a hot day. We always stop for an ice cream at Fullerton’s on the ride home.
  4. Hampton Town Square: The bustling centre of our town boasts activities all day long. Whether you want to grab a coffee at Station 33 and let the kids play at the park, enjoy a burger at Busters, take in dinner at the Red Brick (if you can get a seat along the windows, ask them to open up the doors--great entertainment for toddlers who enjoy watching the traffic!), and watch an outdoor movie in the evenings.
  5. HALL: I started attending HALL groups when my daughter was three months old, and now that she is almost three years old, we continue to enjoy their programs. All summer long HALL offers summer camps, playgroups, and Play in the Park, run by our very own high school students.
We live in a beautiful area of New Brunswick and there are so many places to explore. If you are a family or business who’d like to be profiled celebrating This Place, please use the contact form.
